State of the arts conference: artists shaping the world

 

14 February 2012, The Lowry, Salford

State of the arts, the national conference for the arts and culture sector, will return on 14 February 2012. Held in Salford, the event will be hosted by Arts Council England in conjunction with the BBC, The Lowry, Salford City Council and Manchester City Council.

Christina Mackie and Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery win the Contemporary Art Society Annual Award for Museums 2011

 

Artist Cornelia Parker OBE presented the £60,000 prize to Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery for its proposal to commission a major new  work of art by Christina Mackie.

We Are More Manifesto

 

Culture Action Europe has set the target of 100.000 signatures to the its ‘we are more’ manifesto before the EU Council of Culture Ministers meeting in May 2012, when it plans to present the signatures to the Council.

New fundraising website gives the arts wings

 

AngelShares, a new philanthropic crowd funding website for arts and cultural projects, has launched in the UK. AngelShares was founded by Sarah Gee, a professional fundraiser and marketer for nearly twenty years, and aims to help the arts build stronger relationships with donors, while putting the fun back into fundraising.

EMVAN November update

So, with Halloween and November 5th already past, Christmas is fast approaching! But rather than getting ready to hibernate, EMVAN's gearing up for action in December. Time spent planning in the Autumn was well spent, with EMVAN's Steering Group brainstorming like mad, and EMVAN's programme is now taking shape and looking good!

Taking Part: new data released on public participation across the cultural sector in the UK

The Taking Part survey has run since 2005 and is the key evidence source for DCMS regarding public participation across the cultural sector in the UK. It is a continuous face to face household survey of adults aged 16 and over in England and chidren aged 5-15 years old. This latest releases presents rolling estimates incorporating data from the first quarter of year seven of the survey.

Derby Council Budget Proposals on the Arts - Have Your Say

Council Budget Proposals 2012 -2015 have been announced. These include a reduction in support to the Arts in Derby. The Council is requesting your views about the proposals and about the services you think must continue.

The budget document can be viewed on the Council website (pages 59 and 60 in the Neighbourhoods section relate to Culture).

Arts Council England launches strategic funding and 2011-15 plan

Arts Council England has today published details of how it will invest £440 million of strategic funding between 2012 and 2015, including two new programmes for Capital and Touring.

Strategic funding will be used to complement our £1.04 billion investment in National portfolio organisations. It will be used to target key areas and seize opportunities - including investment in capital, touring and encouraging private giving.
