Social media and smartphones will revolutionise fundraising

New research has found that although traditional fundraising models are rapidly fragmenting, digital media have the potential to help arts organisations modernise and extend their fundraising strategies. The report, ‘We’re all philanthropists now,’ concludes that social media channels and the rise of smartphones provide a platform to engage a much wider spectrum of donors than before. The report concludes that donations made via text message will be the future of fundraising and calls for a national mobile-giving platform to be established to help drive impulse donations.
